xFyro ARIA launches on Indiegogo – water resistant, “true wireless” earphones

A few days ago I was contacted by the people over at xFyro because they are launching their newest earphones, the xFyro ARIA. Those are “true wireless” earphones that feature Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and IP67 certification against water and dust. The company is now raising funds through Indiegogo with an expected shipping date around next August.

Update 2: I published the xFyro ARIA review.

Update: I published the xFyro xS2 review, which covers the previous product by the company. In addition to this, the growing concerns about the ARIA by some people who did not receive their product yet lead me to suggest you to hold on buying the earphones until the situation becomes clearer.

The ARIA follow other similar product launched after the introduction of the Apple AirPods – completely wireless in-ear headphones that are therefore more comfortable and easier to use, at least in theory. One of the main issues these products have is battery life, but xFyro touts 8 hours of playback on a single charge, with three additional charges made possible by the case (which has its own battery) that bring the total to 32 hours.

xFyro touts Bluetooth 5.0 technology and a few smart features such as automatic pause and play thanks to sensors that detect when the earpieces are in your ears. The ARIA is compatible with both Siri and Google Assistant, so it doesn’t matter if you use an iPhone or an Android.

Of course, the most interesting feature is the presence of water resistance, which makes it possible to use them while working out or while taking a shower – a good alternative to speakers such as the UE WONDERBOOM or the Xiaomi Mi Sports Bluetooth Headset.

Inside the housings are 16 mm dynamic drivers and microphones with dual beamforming; xFyro promises excellent sound quality, but I will believe this after I’ll have heard them myself – I have yet to find a quality “true wireless” pair of earphones, though I’d be happy to be proven wrong.

As these are both wireless and water resistant, they seem rather interesting. xFyro is currently pitching them at $95 for the first 600 “early birds”, with the price raising to $150 for the rest of the people and then to $200 after the campaign ends. You can find additional information on their site.

  1. Hello Riccardo,
I just read your review from last May on the ‘xFyro Aria Early Bird’ wireless waterproof earbuds. The video on their website shows a woman swimming underwater with the earbuds. I own a pair of Jabra Elite Sport earbuds with Bluetooth 4.1, and they do not work at all underwater. Do you think these new xFyro Aria Early Bird earbuds with 16mm driver and Bluetooth 5.0 might work underwater? I appreciate your comments.

    Sincerely,

    1. Hey Lee! I’m actually not sure about that – I hope they will send my way a unit soon so I will be able to test it out myself!

    2. Lee!!!! I received mine and tested out in a pool.. the moment I went underwater the earbuds STOPPED playing music and when I emerged it started playing again. I have tried numerous times contacting their support but they havent replied (YET). Hold off on purchasing this.

      1. Hi Riccardo! How is it going now? Did you already get your set or they’re still delaying shipping?
        Thanks!

        1. Hi! They’re still delaying shipping alas. They promised the sample would be shipped out by mid-October, but they now tell me they’re “finalizing the last few things” and say they will ship it soon. I do not have an ETA for the review right now – sorry about that.

  2. Ciao Riccardo, novità? Li hai infine ricevuti? Mi conviene guardare altrove, rischio che non vengano spediti?

  3. I have received my pair after 20 days after the confirmation email.
However the sound volume level and quality is a joke for a device that was paid 110 $.
Who cares about the battery if a pair of 30 $ have better sound and bass.
The sound is flat without a trace of bass.
Very disappointed after 4 months of waiting.

    We got scammed big time.

    1. I got mine too. And I can’t get the right bud to do anything but beep intermittently,,,and agree, the sound I do get through the left bud is hardly something that ‘highly qualified sound engineers’ would be shouting about. Dissappointing…and now I see a very extended period of returns in my near future…

  4. I HAVE XFYRO XS2’S AND AM AMAZED WITH THEIR PERFORMANCE. YES THE LEFT CUTS OUT OCCASIONALLY, WHICH IS A BLUETOOTH ANOMALLY, I HOPE IS CURED WITH BLUETOOTH 5.O. BLUETOOTH CANNOT PENETRATE WATER PERIOD. I AM A BACKER WITH XFYRO/INDEGOGO, PATIENTLY WAITING FOR MY ARIAS. THE REVIEWER WHO SAID HE WAS NOT IMPRESSED SHOULD PROBABLY WAIT UNTIL THEY SHIP, I DOUBT HE HAS THE ARIAS. ON PAPER, THEY LOOK GREAT. WITH A CHEAP MUSIC PLAYER THEY WILL SOUND CHEAP. MY PHONE SOUNDS GREAT WITH BLUETOOTH AND AAC ENABLED USING MY XS2’S. I AM ANXIUOS TO HEAR THE ARIAS WITH BLUETOOTH APTX OR APTX HD ENABLED. PATIENCE…

  5. @LokiKat01 boy you shout a lot.. I received my Xfyro aria headphones this week. Tried it for two days. Not in the water by the way. The sound quality is ok, the comfort level when you press the rubber tip in your ears is not very good. Maybe that will change. But my ears hurt right now.

I get complaints on the quality of the Microphone. I came to this site when googling for review on the earbuds and to check if something in the settings can be done. But i’m not sure about that. Also I’m not sure how to send them back if I want that.

  6. Join the XFyro Aria Scam group on Facebook to learn the truth about the people behind this. They are modus operandi scammers which also was behind the Sonic Soak scam on IGG. They are peddling Chinese, poorly produced bogus products then puts it in transport hell to avoid credit card chargebacks (3-4 months minimum). Avoid at all cost, these guys should have been jailed for fraudulence.

  7. I backed the xfyro campaign on Indiegogo in August, never received the headphones, never received any reply on 5 different attempts to contact. Looks like a scam to me

  8. Hello!!! I received my Aria XFyro in the mail and I actually like it and no disruption unlike other BT I have tried. BUT the main reason why I purchased this is because it is waterproof. I tested out these earbuds Dec 22nd in a local rec pool area and the moment I went underwater the earbuds STOPPED working. When I emerged from the water level it started working again but every time I submerged it stops playing music. I immediately emailed Aria Support and they have received my concern with a reference # receipt. but I haven’t heard anything from they till this day. I am still being patient is it is the holidays and all, but this has been since Dec 22nd. Has anyone received theirs and tested out the waterproof features yet?

    1. Hey Dennis,
I can answer your question: alas water stops any and all electromagnetic radiations, including Bluetooth. So they will never work underwater because of the laws of physics – there is no way around this.
