Schiit Fulla 2: the all-new all-in-one desktop DAC/amp from Schiit

Schiit Fulla 2

Schiit just unveiled their newest DAC/amp offering: the Schiit Fulla 2, an evolution over the Fulla and a product directly aimed at those looking for a compact desktop system able to power both headphones and powered monitor speakers. It also has a volume knob!

The new Schiit Fulla 2 looks like a shrunken Magni 2 with a volume knob on top. It is a completely different product when compared to the Fulla: the latter is a dongle-sized DAC/amp (much like the Zorloo ZuperDAC) aimed at being portable and convenient to enhance the audio quality of portable devices (e.g. notebook), while the new Fulla 2 is more of a traditional desktop device, which includes both headphones and powered monitors support.

It is equipped with a AKM AK4490 DAC with a TI OPA1662-based filter stage. Amplification is managed by a TI LMH6643 chip per channel (2 in total). The Schiit Fulla 2 is able to manage music from 16/44.1 to 24/96.

These are the available ports on the Schiit Fulla 2:

  • a 6.3 mm headphone output;
  • a 3.5 mm fixed DAC output (bypassing the internal amp);
  • a 3.5 mm variable DAC output (to be used in conjunction with powered monitors or with an amp without volume control);
  • a 3.5 mm stereo analog input (to use the Fulla 2 as an amp);
  • micro-USB port to deliver power (5V, 500mA);
  • micro-USB port to connect to the computer or mobile device

This may seem as a better alternative to the Modi 2 + Magni 2 stack for those who want a simple setup to upgrade their listening with little expense. Please mind, though, that the Fulla 2 is not able to deliver the same power, so for high-impedance headphones and other specific cases the Fulla 2 could not be the best option.

The new Schiit Fulla 2 costs 99$, which is half the price of the basic Modi 2 + Magni 2 stack and 24$ more than the Fiio E10K. You can look at the in-depth specs and/or buy your own on Schiit’s site.

  1. I would have liked to have seen a REVIEW, not just a recap of the features that are available on the Schiit site. 0_o

    1. Alas publishing a review mere hours after a product is announced is not always possible. I will do my best to review the Fulla 2 as soon as possible, though!

        1. Thank you for your comment. Please let me know your impressions on the Fulla 2 when you get it, I am very curious about it!

      1. Hi, Can the Fulla 2 be used only as an amp for something like a Fiio X5. I mean is it possible to connect X5’s line out with Fulla2’s line out via a cable. But I guess that Fulla 2 doesn’t come in with any such cables

        1. Hi,
          Yes, you can use it just as an amplifier. You just need a cable with a 3.5 mm jack on the end you plug into the Fulla 2.
